Kiev, Pirogovo museum

Less than an hour journey from Kiev, there is the architectural-landscape complex Pirogovo, Museum of Folk architecture and Rural Life, stretched over 150-hectares area.

Description

Pirogovo is a park-museum of architecture and life near Kiev. Pirogovo is a historical place on the territory of Golosievo district of Kiev. Pirogovo is an open air museum situated on the outskirts of Kiev. Museum was built as an original Ukrainian village in very picturesque place.

The museum space in Pirogovo is organized according to a territorially-time principle. Walking there, visitors of the complex can see, how our ancestors lived in Zakarpat’e, Poltavshchina and Slobozhanshchina, Podol, Polesye, or in South Ukraine starting from 16 century. Models of various ethnographic cultures of Ukraine are collected here. Old huts, wooden mills and churches, brought from all over Ukraine, were carefully restored.

The territory of the Museum is more than 150 hectare and it contains more than 300 exhibit pieces collected from all over Ukraine.
